“In the cold darkness of 2am on June 22 2015 25 staff, students, ex-students, parents and friends of St Patrick’s College began the journey of lifetime to Papua New Guinea. Over the next 15 days they walked the gruelling Kokoda track and completed a service project at Kokoda College.St Patrick’s College endeavours to raise good boys to the status of great men willing and able to serve their communities. Michael contacted Fifteen Trees looking for a way to reduce the carbon footprint of his school excursion to PNG. Together we decided that 225 trees would go a long way to do precisely that. The trees were planted throughout the Pentland Hills (between Melbourne and Ballarat) by Emma Muir and Moorabool Landcare Network.

Coordinated by our President Alan Morton we implemented 8 small projects to landholders who live between the Myrniong and Kokruperrimul Creeks. This was to compliment the work that we had done in previous years.
The landholders planted the trees themselves. Some were a family affair such as Heather Muir, her children and grandchildren.
The addition of the Fifteen Trees seedlings allowed us to extend the project and enable our members to complete their re-vegetation works. Huge thank you to all your supporters and in particular to St Patrick’s College for their 225 trees”.

Emma and her group planted out 1,000 trees of which St Patrick’s College (Ballarat) generously funded the planting of 225. The Pentland Hills Landcare Group has been running for the past 40 years and is one of the oldest groups in Australia. These guys are experts in species selection, site preparation, tree planting and maintenance. The 225 trees have found a great home.

WPA acknowledges that when it comes to environmental initiatives, its people are its strength. It has recently partnered with us to plant 15 trees for each hard-working staff member identified as a Sustainability Warrior.
Tasman Cottage already gives you a chance to reconnect with nature, yet its manager Nick has taken an important next step. He recently purchased 150 trees in collaboration with us here at Fifteen Trees, an action which ensures vital habitat for our native fauna, such as the unique Tassie Devil.
