TREES PLANTED

“Hello Colleen,

My sincere thanks to you and to the generous sponsors who make this program possible.  I was very grateful to receive 60 trees which were used to re-vegetate an eroded gully on a vacant bush block.  Over the years, off-road vehicles had stripped the cover from a gully and this resulted in severe erosion during the heavy rains which followed the drought.  Earlier this year, rocks and logs were placed to block vehicles and the erosion gully was filled with rocks and soil and then sown with locally collected native grass seeds. All that remained to do was to put in some shrubs and trees.  This is where Fifteen Trees came to the rescue.

Indigenous trees and shrubs were selected for the location: Red Box,Yellow Box,Yellow Gum,Grey Box  plus a variety of wattles and melaleucas. All of which, are now growing  beautifully. I expect that in the future, it will be impossible to tell that this area has been replanted.  Without intervention, the erosion gully would have undoubtedly continued to grow, degrading the land and the creek below it”.

Regards, Bob Reaburn

Some visitors to the Fifteen Trees stall at Sustainable Living Festival decided to support rural landowners to re-vegetate their properties. In the Goldfields region of Central Victoria, Bob Reaburn had to contend with an eroded gully that had been misused for many years. Sincere thanks to – our gorgeous niece Rosie Misitano (and her two sons), Rosemary Wealthy and Mark Twist from the GreenB group. Through your support, another 60 trees have been planted.
